A multi-centre randomized study (June 2026) compared 2% hydrogen peroxide stabilized with silver ions against 0.5% sodium hypochlorite on high-touch operating-room surfaces. Both achieved complete immediate bacterial reduction, but the peroxide–silver formulation maintained significantly lower recontamination rates at 4 hours (8.3% vs. 60%), including suppression of Pseudomonas aeruginosa regrowth.
The findings, published via ScienceDirect, highlight the value of residual activity for prolonged surgical procedures and continuous infection-control intervals.
